Real Work Studies- Lab Wall at Harley School

Visiting friend and waller, Andrew Pighills giving the students expert instruction.

The Real Work Studies students have been working on a lab wall for a few weeks. Seven kids ages 14-17 have signed on for the Stone Wall course at Harley. The first of its kind in Rochester, this class is a hands on experience of building a dry stone wall. A section of wall, the Lab Wall, as teacher Chris Hartman appropriately named it, has been set up for the kids to work on their walling skills. They are currently working on their third rebuild and we are stressing progress, not perfection.

End of week one at the Harley Stone Wall Project. Off to a great start, and in great company. Thanks for everything, Dan. We sure enjoyed having you here, in Rochester.

New Project, New Blog

Welcome to my new blog. This will be a space to view projects in progress, as well as other walling news I find worth sharing.

I began a new project this week at The Harley School in Pittsford, NY. The talented Dan Snow has traveled from Vermont to help kick things off and inspire the students with his stories about stone. More pictures to come soon!
